"It is also clear that Obama has identified this as a root issue as well, and has been working to address it with his work in ethics reform. And, like Edwards, he is not taking dollars from the corporate interests, so he will not be beholden to them."

Will, you are absolutely correct about John Edwards, but unfortunately Obama, through PAC contributions, will be somewhat beholden to various corporate interests. I say 'somewhat' since he has accepted a mere fraction when compared with Clinton and the top Republican candidates. See the links below to verify what I am telling you. If there is something I am missing, please tell me as I am very interested in politics.

Certainly, web 2.0 gives us chances to connect with people we may not necessarily connect with and to share information that was not possible only a few years ago. But these virtual connections can only go so far . . . hence the blogger meetup at radio bean. There is and always will be necessary for that face to face connection that can't be supplanted by emails, posts, and video. Web 2.0 is still evolving though, were it leads us and the quality of connections is still up in the air but soon enough I don't think anyone will be able to avoid it's permutations.

Carl - glad you took some time to write here ... I have been telling people at work quite a bit these days "You have reality on one hand, and Expectations on the other hand, and ... guess which is gonna rule?"

Your comment didn't show up right away because I have moderation on ... You will aways be approved, though (grin)

Hmmmm, wave or particle? Perhaps like light, it is neither.... or both. Aren't waves and particles just constructs of our human imagination. Concepts that we have created to describe what IS. Light sometimes acts like a wave, sometimes like a particle. But the way we analyze its behavior doesn't change its essence. Strangely enough, even though we can manipulte light, and even produce it, we fail to understand it completely. Seems to me that to sit on either side of the "good life- disaster dichotomy is like trying to stuff 10 lbs in a 5 lb bag. Just wont fit. I've heard it said that a person need look no further than inside themselves to find the battle between the forces of good and evil. Maybe our lives play out basically the same way, just macrocosmic expressions of what is inside is. Which may be just a microcosmic expression of the entirety of all things.

Reminds me of a Taoist anectdote I once read. Seems a certain Buddhist temlple was hit by a bolt of lightening. Hundreads of years old, and having survived numerous calamities, the temple was split in two. Worshipers and town's people alike we aghast. Some said that the gods were angry and reigning down their wrath. Others said that it was a sign, forshadowing more disaster. Still others felt that God was punishing Buddhists for straying from the proper spiritual path.

According to the Taoist author who recounted the tale, no matter what meaning people assigned to the event, there was only one thing that they knew for sure. Lightening struck the temple!
